Contrasting thoughts & WHY it is time to get UNCOMFORTABLE.

Right now my life seems to be one giant mix of contrasting thoughts.

"I want to reach my goals....I don't want to work so hard"

"I want to stay on plan...I want to eat all of the food"

"I want to eat to fuel my body...I just want to live my life"

"I want to get to certain weight...I love the way I look right now"

"I don't care...why do I care so much"

The list of these contrasting thoughts goes on and on and on. And frankly it is exhausting...and maddening...and uncomfortable. GOSH IS IT SOOO DAMN UNCOMFORTABLE.

I try to avoid being uncomfortable at all cost. I hate the feeling of being uncomfortable. Uncomfortable to me means danger, run far away, anxiety, overwhelm, inadequate and weak.

Anytime that you are trying to change the way that you have thought in the past. Anytime you try to reach a new goal. Anytime you are trying to create a new way of thinking. You are going to have discomfort.

The truth is that no change occurs without discomfort...so GET USE TO IT! Get real familiar with those feelings of anxiety, failure, overwhelm and fear. If you are feeling those things; that means you are CHANGING. Growth is taking place, new thoughts are being formed, new behaviors are being created, and old ways of thinking that have kept you in a place you don't want to be are being literally dug up and you are creating NEW thoughts that will serve you better.

But don't be fooled. Anytime you try to do this your brain is going to fight like hell against you.

When you want to think..."I want to reach my goal" your brain is going to come and counter with "But that is so much work"

When you are fighting like hell to keep yourself on plan your brain is going to be saying "It is okay, just one day, just one cookie, just one ____, is not going to make that big of a deal."

When you are working to create a new way of thinking about food as fuel, your brain will be whisper "why do you have to be so strict, treat yourself, live your life."

When you are want to believe that you care about reaching your goals, your brain is going to distract you with "lets just go back to our old way, the safe way, the easier way."

When you have these two contrasting thoughts, you are going to be uncomfortable. It will feel like you are fighting a battle you can't actually win. But stay the course, stay consistent, stay aware, and present.

You will slowly start to hear, feel and see your old thoughts getting quieter and new thoughts and new belief about just how capable you are will RISE UP in you. Stop letting your current beliefs and thoughts about yourself bully you into staying where you no longer want to reside.

GET UNCOMFORTABLE and do the HARD work of CHANGING.
